"Driven by the Sun" is a official video documentary of the events of the 2001 Winston Solar Challenge. It shows the trials and tribulations of seven teams of high-school students as they race their solar cars half way across the country.

You might think this is a reality show set in the future when you see the sometimes humorous, sometimes tearful, real-life story of people pushing themselves and sometimes their cars to the limit.
Inspiring
You'll meet the founder of the race, Dr. Lehman Marks along with the race sponsors, judges, and participants as they traverse the countryside. You'll see the race teams and their cars and the myriad of obsticals they encountered during the 1,200 mile race course. Broken axles, blown tires, dead batteries, and rainy days are just some of the challenges. You'll see the winning teams appearance on the NBC "Today Show" and their triumphant hometown celebration.
Most of all, you will see what winning means when it comes to solar car racing.
